Qatar Consumer Prices Fall in October
Consumer prices in Qatar dropped 0.8 percent year-on-year in October of 2019, after a 0.1 percent rise in the previous month. Prices dropped for transport (-2.0 percent vs -0.2 percent in September); recreation & culture (-3.8 percent vs -1.8 percent) and food & beverages (-1.1 percent vs 1.0 percent) while miscellaneous goods & services cost slowed (3.4 percent vs 4.4 percent). In contrast, housing & utilities cost decreased at a softer pace (-1.9 percent vs -2.1 percent) while furniture & household equipment cost rebounded (0.1 percent vs -0.1 percent). On a monthly basis, consumer prices fell 0.8 percent, the same as in the previous month.

Qatar Consumer Prices Rise for 1st Time in 13 Months
Consumer prices in Qatar edged up 0.1 percent from a year earlier in September of 2019, after a flat reading in the previous month. This was the first increase in consumer prices since August last year, as restaurant & hotels cost rose faster (1.4 percent vs 1.3 percent in August) while prices fell less for housing & utilities (-2.1 percent vs -2.2 percent); recreation & culture (-1.8 percent vs -8.3 percent), and furniture & household equipment (-0.04 percent vs -0.1 percent). Meanwhile, food & non-alcoholic beverages cost went up at a softer pace (1.0 percent vs 1.9 percent) while miscellaneous goods & services inflation was steady (at 4.4 percent). In addition, transport prices dropped (-0.2 percent vs 2.3 percent). On a monthly basis, consumer prices fell 0.75 percent, reversing from a 1.2 percent gain in August.

Consumer prices in Qatar showed no growth from a year earlier in August of 2019, after a 0.6 percent fall in the previous month. Cost rebounded for transport (2.3 percent vs -0.4 percent in July) while prices advanced faster for food & beverages (1.9 percent vs 0.6 percent); restaurant & hotels (1.3 percent vs 1.2 percent) and miscellaneous goods & services (4.4 percent vs 2.6 percent). Meantime, prices continued to decrease for housing & utilities (-2.2 percent vs -2.6 percent); recreation & culture (-8.3 percent vs -12 percent) and furniture & household equipment (-0.1 percent, the same as in July). On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose 1.2 percent, recovering from a 0.2 percent decline in July.

Qatar Consumer Prices Continue to Fall in July
Consumer prices in Qatar dropped 0.6 percent year-on-year in July of 2019, following a 0.4 percent fall in the previous month. It was the tenth straight decline in consumer prices, as cost declined for housing & utilities (-2.6 percent, the same as in June); transport (-0.4 percent vs 1.6 percent); recreation & culture (-12 percent vs -9.4 percent); furniture & household equipment (-0.1 percent vs 1.4 percent) and health (-0.1 percent vs 0.8 percent) while food & beverages prices slowed (0.6 percent vs 1.8 percent). On the other hand, prices advanced faster for restaurants & hotels (1.2 percent vs 0.4 percent) and clothing & footwear (4.7 percent vs 0.3 percent) while cost rebounded for communication (1.3 percent vs -10.5 percent) and miscellaneous goods & services (2.6 percent vs -0.4 percent). In addition, inflation was steady for education (at 9.3 percent). On a monthly basis, consumer prices dropped 0.2 percent, after increasing 0.7 percent in June.

Consumer prices in Qatar decreased 0.4 percent year-on-year in June of 2019, after a 0.7 percent drop in the previous month. It is the ninth monthly decline in consumer prices, as cost continued to fall for housing & utilities (-2.6 percent vs -2.2 percent in May); recreation & culture (-9.4 percent vs -7.3 percent); communication (-10.5 percent, the same as in May) and miscellaneous goods & services (-0.4 percent vs -0.9 percent). On the other hand, prices rebounded for food & beverages (1.8 percent vs -1.3 percent) while inflation was steady for transport (at 1.6 percent); restaurant & hotels (at 0.4 percent) and education (at 9.3 percent). Also, prices went up at a softer pace for furniture & household equipment (1.4 percent vs 1.8 percent); clothing & footwear (0.3 percent vs 0.6 percent) and health (0.8 percent vs 1.6 percent). On a monthly basis, consumer prices advanced 0.7 percent, recovering from a 0.6 percent decrease in May.

It was the eighth straight decline in consumer prices, as cost continued to fall for housing & utilities (-2.2 percent vs -2.7 percent in April); recreation & culture (-7.3 percent vs -5.6 percent) and for food & beverages (-1.3 percent vs -0.7 percent). In addition, prices rose at a softer pace for transport (1.6 percent vs 1.7 percent) and restaurants & hotels (0.4 percent vs 0.5 percent). On the other hand, furniture & household equipment cost advanced faster (1.8 percent vs 1.7 percent). On a monthly basis, consumer prices went down 0.6 percent, after a 0.5 percent rise in April.
