Sri Lanka Factory Activity Grows at Softer Pace
Sri Lanka's Manufacturing PMI fell to 56 in November of 2019 from 57.6 in the previous month. Output (57.1 vs 60.2 in October) and new orders (57.1 vs 59.7) expanded at slower pace while the stock of purchases advanced (55.6 vs 54.1). Also, the job creation rate decreased (57.7 vs 58.2).

Sri Lanka Manufacturing PMI at 7-Month High
The Manufacturing PMI in Sri Lanka rose to 57.6 in October of 2019 from 54.7 in September, pointing to the strongest growth in factory activity in seven months. Production (60.2 from 52.0 in September) and new orders (59.7 from 58.1) rose faster, due to an increase in manufacturing of food and beverages sector to meet the upcoming festive season demand. At the same time, significant improvement in employment (58.2 from 55.6) was experienced with the recruitment of new employees. On the other hand, suppliers’ delivery time lengthened (50.5 from 50.5).

Sri Lanka Factory Activity Growth at 3-Month Low
Sri Lanka's Manufacturing PMI fell to 54.7 in September 2019 from 56.6 in the previous month. The latest reading pointed to the weakest expansion in factory activity in three months, as output (52 vs 60.5 in August) and new orders (58.1 vs 61.0) dropped, mainly in food & beverages and textiles & wearing apparel sectors. Also, suppliers' delivery time slowed down to a neutral level (50 vs 50.5). Meanwhile, the job creation rate increased (55.6 vs 50.5) and the stock of purchases advanced (56.6 vs 55.0).

Sri Lanka Manufacturing Output Grows at Faster Pace
Sri Lanka's Manufacturing PMI rose to 56.6 in August 2019 from 55.7 in the previous month, boosted by an increase in production (60.5 vs 57.5) and new orders (61.0 vs 59.0), especially in manufacturing of food & beverages and textiles & wearing apparel sectors to meet the upcoming festive season demand. Meanwhile, the pace of job creation eased (50.5 vs 52.0) and the stock of purchases advanced at a slower rate (55.0 vs 57.0). Suppliers' delivery time lengthened at a slightly higher rate (50.5 vs 50.0), especially from local suppliers.

The Sri Lanka Manufacturing PMI rose to 55.7 in July 2019 from 53.9 in the previous month, boosted by significant increases in new orders (59.0 vs 53.0 in June) and production (57.5 vs 56.5). Meanwhile, the pace of job creation slowed (52.0 vs 55.5).

Sri Lanka Factory Activity Grows at Faster Pace
The Sri Lanka Manufacturing PMI rose 3.2 points to 53.9 in June 2019 from the previous month's 50.7, mainly attributable to the significant recovery in employment (55.5 vs 45.0), especially in manufacturing of food & beverages and textiles & wearing apparels sectors. Overall gains were also seen in new orders (53.0 vs 52.0), production (56.5 vs 55.0), and stocks of purchases (51.5 vs 44.5).
